HISTORY

HISTORY

BSP Engineering was established in 1997, building on more than twenty years of experience developed by entrepreneur Franco Montorfano in industrial storage and bulk material handling.

This experience began with R.B.S. International, which acquired the rights to the Lipp system and the machinery required to manufacture spiral silos. The company supplied storage solutions to agricultural cooperatives, mills, feed manufacturers and other agri-food businesses.

In 1980, R.B.S. International expanded its capabilities by acquiring French Parcy know-how for planetary extraction systems designed to discharge difficult-flowing materials from flat-bottom silos.

The combination of spiral silo construction and planetary extraction technology provided the foundation for further development in Italy and international markets. The product range subsequently expanded to include bucket elevators, chain conveyors, belt conveyors, screw conveyors and filtration systems, enabling the supply of complete storage and handling plants.

Building on this technical heritage, BSP Engineering broadened its activities beyond the agri-food sector to serve increasingly demanding industrial applications. Today, its solutions cover storage, extraction and handling requirements across the food, cement, minerals, steel, biomass, sludge, alternative fuels and chemical industries.

Leadership & Organization

Mauro Montorfano
General Manager — BSP Engineering

A graduate of Politecnico di Milano and a business owner at BSP Engineering, Mauro Montorfano specialises in bulk material storage, extraction and handling systems, with experience in the development of international industrial projects.

Before joining BSP, he gained experience at a major engineering company active in industrial and civil design and the delivery of significant strategic infrastructure projects.

Since joining BSP Engineering in 2021, he has been involved in company management and business development, with responsibilities spanning international client and partner relationships, commercial activities and project coordination.

Working with industrial clients, engineering companies and EPC contractors, he follows projects from the initial discussions and proposal development through to project delivery, collaborating closely with BSP’s engineering team on technical solutions.

His approach combines an entrepreneurial perspective, technical understanding and attention to the operating requirements of each plant. His work covers the food and agri-food industries, cement, biomass, sludge and alternative fuels, with a particular focus on material behaviour, reliable extraction and continuity of plant operation.
