PREMISE
In 2020 BSP was entrusted with the design and turnkey construction of a system for the treatment of sludge from landfill. The planned plant was aimed at creating a treatment intended to make solid waste conform to the characteristics required for disposal settled in landfill through subsequent chemical-physical treatment and inertization.
The project consisted of the construction of a sludge reception hopper, 4 intermediate storage hoppers of 150m3, a sludge mixing system, the inertisation system and all the ground handling of the various products having different chemical and physical characteristics.
After the success of this pilot plant, the end customer decided to implement the accommodation capacity of the plant.
This involved a new design of the cobra chain conveyor used for moving products from the unloading pit to the intermediate storage hoppers.
DESIGN
COBRA CHAIN CONVEYOR
Based on previous experience in the field, the conveyor has been completely renewed, not only to cope with an increase in flow rates but also to make it more performing and adequate to the problems due to the different chemical-physical compositions of the products, some extremely humid and watery, others viscous and extruders. In particular, much attention was paid to the design of the curves in order to reduce the friction induced on the anti-wear manganese guides. An extremely accurate engineering retrofitting job.
REALIZATION
The chain conveyor is totally built in Stainless stell Aisi 304
BSP assembling teams can managed several tasks also in confined spaces
CONCLUSION
BSP is able to develop high-profile retro engineering thanks to sophisticated 3D modeling and FEM analysis software. Furthermore, it can count on fifty years of experience in the fields of solid and liquid sludge.
